Abstract: The study proposes a method to evaluate computational thinking ability, which facilitates gaining a perspective for solving problems in daily life. To evaluate computational thinking ability, it is effective to assign programming tasks to target people. On the other hand, there is no method to evaluate the computational thinking ability of people with no programming experience. The study assigns a task to draw flip books using an electronic pen and tablet. Using drawing logs collected from them, it examines whether computational thinking is demonstrated. The effectiveness of the method is verified in an experiment with a Hidden Markov Model. The result shows it is exhibited in periods during which the number of drawing pages increases sequentially. The proposed method enables us to determine whether target people are working toward solving problems after they fix their perspectives.
