Loan portfolio of banks in Uzbekistan and ways to improve the efficiency of loan portfolio management

Abstract:
Decreasing the share of non-performing loans is critical for ensuring financial stability, enhancing creditavailability, improving cost efficiency, strengthening risk management, fostering investor confidence, complying withregulatory requirements, and supporting sustainable economic growth. By addressing the root causes of NPLs andimplementing effective risk mitigation strategies, banks can enhance their resilience, competitiveness, and long-termviability in the global financial landscape. The paper examines the essence of the concept of problem loans, presents themain factors that contribute to the emergence of NPLs and deals with the analysis of the quality of the loan portfolio ofbanks in Uzbekistan. Moreover, the paper presents proposals for improving the efficiency of managing the loan portfolioof commercial banks.
