Abstract:
We must admit that now is the time to adopt few vigorous actions for identifying and stimulate the academic quality, where it exists, and to stimulate, guide and improve the quality where is necessary. Otherwise, we preserve us in a state of amiable self- complacency, which risks to sank us into a homogeneousness as uniform as devoid of perspective and competiveness. But out of this situation is in strong relationship with increasing public funding for the higher education and with solving the economic and social problems that Romania has. For solving these problems higher education has to contribute not only by fulfilling its traditional duties, but also with ideas debated in a public space as large as possible. University subjective space associated to quality seems to be a crowded one with contradictions and gaps between students and teachers guidelines. And these endogenous gaps of university system are transmitted in its relations with the outside labor market. To a public and academic space saturated of gaps and divergences corresponds another state of confusion concerning the construction standards and assurance of academic quality. If we do not introduce in the system and in the universities large and rapid adjustments, we risk to have in the future too less and less efficient universities, more and more diplomas, less and less professional individual competences and finally, we risk to deal with a chronic lack of European competiveness.
