Abstract: Abstract - This article expounds the main findings of a research program on the reflation of local economies in West Africa. It was developed by the Municipal Development Program (MDP) in collaboration with the Sahel Club, and aims at implementing local information systems. This program does not only enable us to set up key business indicators of local economies, but also to gain deeper insight into the economic reality of Western African cities. Its results reveal that there is a current discrepancy between the urban view and the realities of Africa, and induce a less negative analysis of the urbanization process.
