Abstract:
This article aims to analyze the role of knowledge spillovers in the service sector in the development of Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries. The retained indicator is labor productivity in the services whose determining elements are FDI, importation of IT material, human capital formation sometimes linked to external knowledge conveyed through technological payments. The results suggest that imports and human capital have a direct positive effect on productivity, but that FDI have a negative one. Technological payments, importation and FDI have an indirect positive effect on productivity to the extent that they increase the efficiency of human capital.
