Sustainable Water Use: Can Certification Show the Way?

Brian Richter: Brian Richter has been involved in river science and conservation for more than 20 years. He is the Managing Director of The Nature Conservancy's Global Freshwater Program, an initiative that is supporting conservation projects across the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Pacific Region. Brian has developed numerous scientific tools and methods to support river protection and restoration efforts, including the Indicators of Hydrologic Alteration software that is being used by water managers and ecologists worldwide. He is co-author (with Sandra Postel) of "Rivers for Life: Managing Water for People and Nature" (Island Press, 2003). Brian has provided scientific or technical consultation on more than 120 river projects worldwide.
