Abstract:
As the country recovers from the COVID-19 induced recession, there is renewed focus on infrastructure spending. The pandemic brought to the forefront many too often ignored issues. Beyond simply creating jobs, any infrastructure plan is likely also to address climate resiliency, social equity, and sustainability. The authors discuss the current state of U.S. infrastructure, consider how infrastructure spending can affect other public policy goals, and consider the economic impact of any new spending programs.
