Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to contribute to the debate regarding the importance of the creation of a free trade area between the United States and the European Union, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). In this sense, this study analyzes the theoretical foundations of economic integration, and it presents the main regional trade agreements. In addition, a synthesis of the main research on the TTIP was carried out. Based on discussions made throughout the work, it appears that the impacts of the agreement have its effects accentuated when there is an elimination of the tariff barriers or the reduction of non-tariff barriers. The TTIP benefits in economic terms, especially those who belong to the bloc, namely the United States and the European Union.
