Abstract: NPP being in operation under normal operating conditions has certain impacts on the environment. These impacts are connected mainly with potential radiation, thermal and chemical effects. As the potential radiation effect in the form of gaseous, liquid and solid radiates is the most dangerous one in order to monitor it a number of special services has been established both at the NPP’s themselves and in different authorities. The environmental monitoring results in the vicinity of South-Ukraine NPP over the whole period of the plant operation show that the nuclear power plant does not have a significant impact upon the natural environment of the region, and that the plant is ecologically safe facility for the public and environment.
