Abstract: Integral evaluation of the development of the river Horyn basin areas has been made according to the data of quantitative and qualitative indices of the achieved development of the administrative districts as for the trends of their social, economic and ecological progress. Strategic orientation points of the areas development within the river Horyn basin have been suggested based on the results of the evaluation socio-economic-ecological development of the districts. The choice of the strategy of ensuring sustainable development of the river basin area and the improvement of the surface water quality is substantiated.
