Abstract: The article examines the nature and content of the informational stage of economic development. The author through the implementation of a study on the nature of the category "informational economy" proposed his own interpretation of this definition. The article also identifies the main theoretical and methodological sources of informational-type economy, its benchmarks, which include a system of indicators of technological equipment, communications transparency indicators, the index of the informational society.
