Abstract:
The activities and the role of ports in the international division of labour and world trade cannot be overemphasized. The pace and form of international, national and regional division of labour, the effects of international specialization and co-production, efficiency of reproduction processes both of individual companies and entire countries and their associations depend on ports' effectiveness, that cannot help but affect formation conditions and factors that influence the choice and effectiveness of internal economic mechanism of a seaport. In the article it has been defined, systematized and substantiated these key factors, namely, technological change, globalization, permanent integration of different transport types and their services, increase of private sector participation, the growing importance of the strategic management and institutional reformation and deregulation of the port sector. The authors have proved that the elaboration of internal economic mechanism of economic management and measurement of port efficiency depend on these aspects, and have grounded some features that impact and lead to the need to adjust the obtained results.
