Abstract: The article reveals the content and orientation of the main trends of the development of markets in the field of retail trade and their socio-economic consequences. The dynamics of market development for 2000-2016 has been presented. The structural changes in product specialization of markets have been shown. The nature and content of pressing problems and the ways of their addressing have been shown.
