Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine up to what extent the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Mexican industry apply the best practices in their production processes and management; likewise, it seeks to know how the entrepreneur perceives the success factors that affect their competitiveness. A direct structured questionnaire was applied to a sample of 394 companies. Results allowed determining that the application of best practices in this emerging business sector is negligible and this might be affecting them in terms of competitiveness. It was also found that entrepreneurs are not aware of the success factors that affect their business, since they have a short term vision that impedes them plan the future.
