Abstract:
The usually adopted ways in different countries to achieve the traditional macroeconomic objectives have deteriored environmental quality. Anthropogenic climate change exemplifies this and requires urgent and decisive actions. This paper develops an analytical approach to explain some macro processes that can lead to socially undesirable behaviors and decisions. Climate change is surrounded by uncertainties and, in turn, can be studied considering the environmental quality as a public good. It is argued that uncertainty interacts with collective action dilemmas, magnifying the problem endogenously.
