Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to study the different alternatives that economic relations between Argentina and the United States present. Accordingly, the analysis begins with a historical review of such relations from the XVIIth century to the time beings in which they are characterized by a new dimension of space integration and globalization. On these bases, some explanations of Argentine position in relation to North American interests can be traced, as well as some ideas on the degree of the damage that on account of it Argentine has suffered .The study also considers an issue that exceeds the economic relations field as the one related to domestic North Americans interests, who, exerting pressure on their authorities, try to take advantages of the farm sector protectionism. The last section studies the various strategic alternatives that Argentina faces as regards international economic relations in the context of the new international economic order. It also considers the possibilities of concretion of the North American proposal of the ALCA in a scenery where South American countries, conscious of their weakness for bilateral negotiations with the United States try to negotiate as a block, through their not already complete integration in the Mercosur
