Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present a critical approach to the concept of development of the "new regionalism". The main objectives are: 1) to characterize the national policies of "growth poles"; 2) to analyze the concept of development of the "new regionalism"; 3) to critically assess this concept of development focused on territorial units at the regional-local level self-sufficient and cohesive. Lastly, we argue the "post-nationalist" discourses of a world without Nation States
