Abstract:
The objective of this document is to determine the effect of the policies imple-mented between 2007 and 2018 to encourage formal employment in Ecuador. For this purpose, a local projection model is used with administrative data on registered employment. The results show that formal employment increases by 4% in the medium term, due to labor reforms. In addition, it is evident that the aggregate behavior is guided by the effect on large companies. These positive results are evi-denced after the year of implementation, suggesting a degree of rigidity in boosting formal employment
