Abstract: This paper evaluates the impact of the implementation of the Emergency Medical Attention Service (SAME) in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on deaths from road accidents. Based on monthly information on traffic accidents of the 135 municipalities of the province for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018, we exploit the variability at the time of implementation among municipalities and the fact that some never adopted the service for identify the average effect of the intervention in municipalities with SAME using the Differences in Differences methodology. The results suggest that the adoption of the SAME produced an average reduction of 19% in the death rate per thousand injured with respect to the baseline
