Abstract: The study analyzes the implementation of social farming experiences as a potential area of innovation in regional welfare policies, in the case study of the Marche region. Adopting the theoretical analytical approach of the process tracing, it focuses its attention on the dimension of governance that has characterized these innovation processes, considering its relative potentialities and criticalities in the perspective of social investment. It highlights the circumscribed nature of innovation experimentation, discusses the type of actors involved and its potential for upscaling, questioning its impact in the context of other local experiences and the wider neoliberal climate.
