Abstract:
The quality of the public services is influenced by management with somewhat dependence on the ownership type – private or public. There is the impression that private structures should be more efficient and offers best quality services to the customer. Because of this, there is the temptation to look for fully privatizing the public services in order to get better quality services. The present paper aims to present and analyze the mechanisms that are at the base of the services provided and the relation with the quality of the offered service. In the second stage the similarities and the differences between the public and private sectors will be considered in terms of efficiency and quality management. The case study to be used is the health and education services in Romania. Starting from the aim of offering good quality of health and education services to the citizens, the conclusion is that process management should be properly design in order to come to the expected results. The quality of a public sector should not be only related with the ownership type.
