Abstract: Waste management, as a measure of socio-environmental sustainability, is nowadays a public environmental concern. This study aims to explore the associations between cultural access and proenvironmental behavior. Applying a Multinomial Probit Model (MNP), we provide an exploratory analysis of the relationship between cultural consumptions and households’ level of recycling. Data came from the Italian Multipurpose Survey on Households Daily Life Aspects 2007, provided by ISTAT. The analysis highlights a strong positive relation between the propensity to take part in some cultural activities and the propensity to abide by waste recycling guidelines and prescriptions. Our empirical results are beneficial for designing preventive policies aiming to influence sustainable development by fostering pro-environmental by considering the impact of cultural access.
