Abstract: Following the financial crisis of 2008 and the government debt crisis at the level of the European Union, it was decided to introduce the procedure of macroeconomic imbalances, formalized in the form of the scoreboard, which aims to identify and correct imbalances that appear in the European Union countries that have the potential to extends to other EU countries, or even the entire European Union. The paper aims to analyze how the macroeconomic indicators monitored by the scoreboard have evolved for Romania in comparison with other countries of the European Union, before and after the outbreak of the crisis generated by the COVID 19 pandemic.
