Abstract: The transition to the digital economy and its impact on the banking sector is perceived ambiguously by both academic and business circles. The very possibility of digital transformation of the banking business model, in order to maintain its market position (let alone increase or strengthen it), requires reshaping the boundaries of accessible information for external agents, which carries numerous hidden threats and security risks to the entire architecture of the bank’s business model. The purpose of the research on the topic is to analyze and evaluate how the technological transformations brought by Industry 4.0 influence digital business models in the banking sector. This research aims to identify the main trends in the adoption of digital technologies, examine their impact on the operations and competitiveness of banks, and explore the opportunities and challenges faced by financial institutions in the process of digitalization.
