Public regulation in the transport sector

Abstract: This article deals with the theme of strengthening of the role of the new priorities of formation of economic mechanism to ensure advanced tempo of public transport development, which is conditioned by social and economic directivity of the transport functioning. In this work the author pays most attention to the forms and methods of public regulation in the transport sector at contemporary stage, including administrative tools for public regulation that have force of rule, compulsion, severe restriction, and rest on strict compliance with legislative rules and ensure protection for the interests and rights of consumers. The author concludes that transport sector regulation is the process of creation by authorized external and internal structures of a complex of conditions for formation of adequate social and economic relations to provide stable development of the transport system, which is of great social importance.
