Abstract:
There are differences in the level of poverty, social exclusion and deprivation across the European Union (EU), both on the territory of Member States and between them. Although each Member State takes independent decisions related to their reduction in line with the relevant national conditions, this paper presents a summary of the picture of poverty. The data about poverty and the rate of social exclusion before and after social transfers is based on the most up-to-date data for all EU Member States for 2016. Risk groups are grouped by type of risk with respect to the following situations: Presence of at least one of the following situations: At risk of poverty after social transfers (income poverty); Severely deprived; Living in very low-intensity households.
