Abstract: The aim of the paper is to explore the changes in Bulgarian exports after 2007 by sectors and main trading partners and to generate hypotheses for its future development. The author applies different measures of diversity as predictors of economic resilience, whereas resilience is understood as the capacity of a system to recover its functions and structure after an internal or external shock. The analysis relies on the UN Comtrade database. This study can be regarded as an initial step towards the identification of options for policies supporting export development as an important component of economic growth and enhanced resistance and ability to adapt to exogenous shocks.
