Abstract:
Project management has always been a huge challenge, especially in sectors like the software industry. This is largely due to the frequent changes in the business environment and customer requirements, as well as the difficulties in predicting the future of software project progress. It is therefore not accidental that new approaches to software development and management such as Agile Project Management are becoming more popular in recent years. Agile management is associated with the use of the so called àgile methodologies for software development. We argue that the majority of problems that occur in current management of IT projects require new principles and approaches in software process management. The purpose of the present article is to introduce the possibilities of the agile management approach and to compare them with those of the traditional management approach. The main problems with traditional management approach are considered and the key benefits from and challenges to Agile Project Management adoption are discussed.
