 Digital Divide of the Balkan countries - comparative statistical analysisIzvestia Journal of the Union of Scientists - Varna. Economic Sciences Series, 2017, issue 2, 158-168 Abstract: 'Digital divide' is a concept that has come in strong in both the politics of a certain country and the individual's lifestyle. 'Digital divide' is a concept that emerges in connection with the idea of the Information Society. 'Digital divide' is an inequality in the access and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), both by different population groups and with regards to different geographic areas. In the past 10 years a number of 'indices' have been created to measure the 'digital divide'. This paper presents the results of the implementation of the main 'measures' of the digital divide of the Balkan countries for the period 2008-2016. Attention is also paid to inaccuracies related to the use of the so-called e-indices as a 'measure' for digital divide, digital readiness, and so on. A comparative statistical analysis was carried out on the basis of classical and well-established indicators for access and use of ICT in the individual Balkan countries.
