Abstract: The child occupies a central place in the Bulgarian family. All issues concerning him are decided in his interest. This interest takes precedence over the interests of the parents and other members of the extended family. The author draws attention to the latest trends in the development of the legal system in matters affecting the right of the child to know and live with his parents of origin, in a comparative plan with the rights of biological parents, parents of established parentage, with adoptive parents and with the other persons to whom the law grants the care and education of the children.
