Abstract: This conference paper looks at the ways in which the inclusion of a wealth module in the survey of household budgets by the National Statistics Institute of Bulgaria could improve the information properties of the data collected and the possibilities to analyze the behavior of households with regard to the accumulation and usage of their wealth. Several examples are used in support of the main points, based on the existing data, as well as on the experience of countries where such a module already exists
