Abstract:
The article examines the competitiveness of rural areas at territorial level, achieved through preservation and improvement of the environment by local players. The importance of environmental competitiveness and rural development are analyzed. On the basis of a survey of business and municipal administrations, the article is studies environmental competitiveness of the territories of five local action groups in Bulgaria. The role of the environment for the integrated development of rural areas in Bulgaria is proven.
