Abstract:
This report summarizes the results of a conducted study on the relationships and impact between different forms of direct payments and the socio-economic development of rural and non-rural regions in Bulgaria. It is found that direct payments increased over the analyzed period between 2010 and 2020, in parallel with the expansion of agricultural land in farms, while simultaneously observing a decrease in animals supported through tied aid. Despite these findings, statistical analyses indicate that direct payments have limited impact and do not exhibit a significant correlation with the socio-economic development of municipalities classified as rural areas.
