Abstract:
The regions are key players in the development of the European bioeconomy and a strong bioeconomy can make regions more economically attractive. Cities and regions in Europe must play a key role in the development of the bioeconomy. At the regional level, we should make better use of available biomass and agricultural land while ensuring sustainable management of natural resources. The bioeconomy can help Europe revitalize rural areas. It will offer a new perspective on traditional high value production in the regions, as well as create new opportunities and jobs for agriculture, forestry, fisheries, aquaculture and industry.
