Abstract: This report presents the emergence and development ofcommodityscience, and in particular a brief history of the specialty Commodity Science at the University of Economics-Varna, Bulgaria. The state of the Commodity Science in modern market conditions is described. The actuality of the training of specialists with high qualification in the field of Commodity Science in the department of Commodity science is presented and the possibilities for their wide realization are outlined.The factors that determine the relevanceand importance of the Commodity science,and the perspective directions for its development are outlined.
