Abstract: This research aims to identify the presence of extreme values in the distribution of EU SMEs and large enterprises with a basic level of the Digital Intensity Index (DII). The Digital Intensity Index shows the level of adoption of key digital technologies by enterprises and, through their implementation, an increase in entrepreneurial competitiveness in the era of digital transition. The significance of this kind of research and the results achieved stems from the strong influence of factors such as globalisation and crises such as COVID 19 on entrepreneurship, the existence of which makes sense of the progress of information and communication technologies and their implementation in European business.
