COMPARISON BETWEEN LONG-TERM CHANGE OF HOUSING PRICES AND RENTALS IN BULGARIA COMPARED TO OTHER EU COUNTRIES

Petar Ivanov

INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "CONSTRUCTION ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND REAL PROPERTY", 2020, issue 1, 129-136

Abstract: This article examines the long-term dynamics of housing prices versus rentals in Bulgaria, EU-27 and other new members of the European Union. The study period is between Q1’2007 and Q1’2020. It encompasses the effects of the Global financial crisis from 2007-2008 over the housing prices and rentals during the period of economic recovery after it. Countries are plotted in a coordinate system according to the change size in both indicators. Lastly, a correlation matrix is drawn between indices of housing prices and rentals in EU-27 and Bulgaria, so that it could be determined where the strongest interaction occurs.
