Abstract:
Established theories of career development place significant emphasis on establishing a match between a person's professional characteristics and the appropriate professional environment, as well as on the person's ability to make "correct" decisions based on developed skills in processing and analyzing career information. The purpose of this report is to raise awareness of a non-standard theory in career decision-making: career construction theory. The report examines the main components around which the theory is built - professional personality type, career adaptability and the individual's life theme and how it is more relevant to today's working world, promotes career adaptability, the interaction between intuitive, emotional and rational processes by encouraging the construction of an individual rather than a typical career history.
