Teodora Dimitrova

Business & Management Compass, 2010, issue 1, 78-89

Abstract: The household credit market takes up a considerable share of the financial services market and is characterized by a constantly increasing capacity. The development of the processes of extending credit to na tural persons in Bulgaria in recent years has given rise to heated debates regarding the after - effects on households indebtedness, the risks associated with the rapid growth in consumer credit and mortgage lending and the danger of overheating the national economy. The topicality of the problem is further intensified in the context of the global financial crisis, in view of which in the present work there is an emphasis on the study of the trends and changes in the principal types of credit, provided by com mercial banks to households – overdraft, consumer and mortgage products.
