Abstract:
For a long period of time the commonly accepted view has been that employment is the principal way of getting out of poverty. But in recent years the “working poor” has emerged as a hybrid category, recognizing the existence of income poverty, even in the presence of employment. In economic literature there is no unified definition of this phenomenon, therefore in the article there are systematized the individual parameters, defining the category on a global scale and are drawn the prerequisites for its fun ctioning, as well as the counteracting social policies. The study focuses also on the scale of its manifestation in this country, under the impact of the low labour cost.
