Abstract: The provision of high quality education in higher schools is connected with the need for skilled and habilitated academic staff and the existence of modern equipment and facilities. In the article there are examined some theoretical and applied aspects of the equipment and facilities of the higher schools and on that basis there is outlined a methodical approach for their evaluation during accreditation. There are clarifie d the nature, elements and scope of the term „equipment and facilities”, which includes real property, equipment and other goods and chattels and information base. There are pointed out problems and possible solutions with the evaluation of the equipment a nd facilities and is justified the use of the indicator “average number of students using the facilities“.
