Abstract: In the article the role of a region in the global economy is investigated, problems of the formation of Ukrainian regions as members of the competitive relations and objective conditions for the transformation of regional policy on the principles of self-development are analyzed, the model of the institutional support of region’s foreign economic activities is proposed.
