Abstract: The article presents the different types of leave and the accompanying social benefits from which parents can benefit while raising their children. The purpose of the study is to identify problematic fields in the social support of parenting that can lead to both children and households falling into poverty for a shorter or longer period of time. One of the main findings is the overriding need for an update in the existing EU documents governing the minimum rights of parents in the care of young children. The article also reaffirms the need for policies to reconcile child-care leave and work activity.
