Abstract: The paper examines the economic base and the legal framework of Occupational Health Services (OHS) in the EU and in Bulgaria. Through an analysis of the status, activities and key trends in their development, we have drawn conclusions on their impact on the promotion of employees’ health. Emphasis is placed on some gaps in legislation posing challenges to the effective cooperation between these services and businesses.
