Abstract:
Synthetic content is a new technological phenomenon that poses serious challenges to legal theory and practice. With the help of artificial intelligence, convincing but false images, videos, and audio recordings are created, increasingly used as tools for control, threats, and extortion in the context of domestic violence and sexual exploitation. The new Directive (EU) 2024/1385 on combating violence against women and domestic violence introduces the first binding measures at EU level to counteract violence committed against women through the use of technological means in cyberspace.
