Abstract:
The purpose of the paper is to analyze the new regulative framework in the European Union supporting the implementation of the Digital Single Market and encouraging innovations in the digital economy. The EU Digital Single Market initiative aims at boosting competitiveness by elimination of restrictions to businesses, lowering operating costs and deepening their links to the global world. The digital transition is associated with positive impacts as well as the challenges in the efforts to implement the new regulatory mechanisms. Lastly, the analysis focuses on the adaptation of Bulgaria to digital transition in the EU and specifically on the institutional challenges to the technological and digital economy in the new global realities.
