Abstract: The study examines the concept for the assessment of economic resources and the enterprise valuation based on its development in Bulgaria as an independent science. The reasons for this are that it has both a social and an economic nature, it is subject to normative regulation and it is applicable in practice. Assessment as an economic science is defined by three aspects: substantive, methodical and targeted. A system of principles of evaluation theory is derived: identification, quantification and interpretation, as well as the approaches to assessment are presented with an emphasis on the temporal orientation of assessments.
