Abstract:
The transport of goods in urban conditions, incl. last mile logistics, is an important part of supply chains and a structural element for achieving efficiency in deliveries. The environmental sustainability and viability of cities depend on the organization of the urban logistics system. There are many good examples of optimizing urban logistics processes, one of which is related to the application of the concept of co-modality, combining the transport of goods with public transport. The aim of this study is to examine the possibilities for the application of this concept in Bulgaria, including the main advantages and challenges. Among the research methods and approaches used are structural analysis, method of comparison, content analysis, etc. The results show that under certain circumstances and for given type of municipalities, co-modality is applicable and, if properly organized, would lead to positive effects for transport in the city and for improving the quality of life.
