Abstract: The article examines the speed of convergence of labor productivity in CEE countries with respect to the Eurozone. The results show significant differences between countries in the pace of convergence, with some of them advancing rapidly and others lagging behind. Bulgaria is lagging behind mainly in industry, which poses a risk to its future economic development and requires targeted structural reforms aimed at improving the education system, innovation and better infrastructure. Adoption of the euro can help this process, but it will not be enough and without these additional measures, the catch-up period could drag on for decades, which will slow down economic convergence with the Eurozone.
