Abstract: The digitalization of business is a process that has a strong impact on its competitiveness and successful functioning in modern economic conditions. In Bulgaria, this issue is of particular importance for small businesses due to the peculiarities of the business structure. In order to measure the degree of digitalization, official statistics conducts observations and a system of statistical indicators, which, in addition to measuring functions, are also important for revealing the factors supporting and hindering the development of this process. The data obtained as a result of these observations can also be used to measure the effects of the digital transformation of business. The aim of the study is to present and classify the indicators used by national statistics. Proposals have also been made for constructing more detailed indicators to support future research.
